Building out the kitchen- one step at a time

Every big thing has a beginning. For us, it was finding a space to work. Originally, my idea was to find a kitchen close to home at Lake Oconee, something usable, something accessible, and something AFFORDABLE. Well, maybe I was dreaming a little too big, because.. there just isn't anything. To do what we want to do with Revelation Meals we don't need a fancy dining room. We don't need a dining room at all. We don't need fancy high dollar real estate, because then we wouldn't be able to offer a good value for your dollar. We needed a simple place to work.
After a bit of asking around and running into a lot of dead ends, I got a text message from a broker. "Hey are you still looking for a kitchen space? Might have something in Athens". I thought, well Athens is probably too far, but I'll go check it out.
What I found was... an empty spot of about a thousand square feet in a strip mall. Not anything to be really excited about.. but. Something felt right about it. I'm a man of faith, so I took a few days to pray about it, and it kept seeming like the right thing to do. Was it perfect? No. Was it going to be a LOT of work an hour from home? Yep.
Did I think I could have it done in like 2 weeks? Yes. But sometimes things come up in any project, like.. having to replace a lot of the wiring, replace the hot water system, and build the whole thing from the ground up, through the holidays with just my wife and I, while both working "day jobs".
But, I'm proud to announce that the build-out is almost done (after 45 days), and we will be submitting our inspection package to the Georgia Dept. of Agriculture soon. We will keep you posted as we prepare to open for orders!
Here are some before, during, and after photos.
STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS.. but making progress, every day.
